Transitional Neighbourhood Parking Permit - Terms and Conditions


The Transitional Neighbourhood Parking Strategy is a key initiative in the Town of Milton's 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, to support planned community growth.

As part of this strategy, overnight permit parking is available in select municipal parks to alleviate meet on-street parking needs. This one-year pilot program will evaluate service demand, operational impacts, as well as administrative and financial considerations.

Eligibility

Parking permits are available only to Milton residents for designated municipal park locations.

Proof required: You must upload proof of residence within the Town of Milton (tax bill, driver's license, lease agreement).

How to purchase an overnight parking permit

Milton residents can purchase monthly overnight parking permits online.

Before purchasing, please review the terms and conditions below. By proceeding, you agree to these terms. Failure to comply may result in permit cancellation or a penalty notice.

To purchase a permit:

  1. Create an account or log in if you already have one.
  2. Submit your application online.
  3. Wait for Town staff approval. Your permit is not active until approved.

You will receive an email when you submit your application. You will receive another email once your permit has been approved or denied.

Start date: Permits are granted for one month, starting the first of each month.

Terms and conditions for all permits

  • Permits are available to Milton residents only.
  • Parking charges and permits cover use of the parking space only.
  • The Town of Milton, its employees, or agents, are not responsible for loss or damage to vehicle or its contents.
  • An NSF (non-sufficient funds) fee applies if payment is declined or cannot be processed.
  • Failure to pay will result in permit cancellation.
  • No credits or refunds for unused time or if parking is not found.
  • Allow up to three (3) business days for permit processing. A confirmation email will be sent once approved.
  • The Town may refuse permit renewal or issuance if there are multiple unpaid parking penalties.
  • Permits are non-transferable.
  • Permit must be registered to vehicles with valid Ontario license plates.

Permit holder responsibilities

  • Follow all permit terms and conditions.
  • A permit will not be issued for specific parking spots. Permit holders can park for the permitted overnight period in the approved municipal parks.
  • Ensure all contact, payment and vehicle information is current.
  • Do not use a commercial vehicle (over 6.7 m long or 2.6 m high), recreational vehicle, school bus, trailer or inoperable vehicle.
  • Ensure the vehicle is plated and insured in Ontario.
  • Arrange alternate parking if a space is unavailable.
  • Lock your vehicle when parked.
  • Comply with all other parking regulations, signed or unsigned.
  • Do not store your vehicle at the location for more than 24 hours without moving it.

    Use of Personal Information

    We use your personal information for the purposes for which you give it to us. The primary purpose of collecting any relevant personal information is to be able to provide you with our goods and services. Names and addresses of our customers may also be used to mail account statements to each customer and provided to debt collection agencies to collect outstanding debts. If we have obtained personal information from the Ministry of Transportation as mentioned above, we only use that information to contact you to determine whether to commence proceedings in relation to those parking infraction notice(s), and to commence proceedings if necessary. We are not permitted and do not use the information for any other purpose. We do not exchange, rent, sell, or otherwise disclose your personal information to any outside organization or person unless the disclosure is required by law.

    Access and Amendment of Personal Information

    If we do collect any relevant information, we will take reasonable steps to ensure your personal information is accurate. If you learn that the current information we hold about you is inaccurate, you should contact us.

    You can request details about your personal information. You should contact us if you wish to find out about the personal information we hold about you. We will need to verify your identity before giving you access. If your request is complex, we will ask you to put it in writing and will usually deal with such a request within 14 to 30 days. We may charge you a fee for processing the request. We do not take any steps to update information obtained from the Ministry of Transportation as mentioned above. We may not be able to give you access. We may not be able to tell you what personal information we hold about you in certain circumstances including where the information relates to anticipated legal proceedings or where the information would reveal commercially sensitive information.

    Safeguarding Personal Information

    Milton will take necessary steps to protect the personal information it holds from misuse, loss and from unauthorized access, modifications, or disclosure, including steps to ensure that information obtained from the Ministry of Transportation is not accessed or used other than for the purposes described above. Personal information is only disposed of according to the Town of Milton’s approved records retention schedule.
